Product Storage in the Mixing Plant
Concrete is an essential material for building houses, bridges and tunnels as well as for the production of slabs. Job sites are supplied via stationary or mobile mixing equipment. All materials needed for the production of concrete are temporarily stored in large silos or bunkers. Extremely abrasive materials, changing fillers, as well as cement, which generates a lot of dust, all place different demands on level measurement.
VEGAPULS 68 for Level Measurement in the Clinker Silo
Because of the extremely abrasive properties of clinker and temperatures up to 392°F (200°C) in the silo, contacting measurement technology is categorically ruled out. Being specially developed for bulk solids, the VEGAPULS 68 combines simple installation and commissioning with the advantages of the wear-free, non-contacting radar measuring principle. The implemented parabolic antenna provides strong microwave focusing, which in turn yields a strong wanted signal. Interference from struts or installations is practically excluded.
VEGACAP 65 as Overfill Protection
Ruggedness is of utmost importance in the clinker silo. That is why capacitive measurement lends itself well to this application. The VEGACAP 65 is characterized by a stable, wear-resistant mechanical construction and an easy set-up procedure. Neither condensate nor build-up can impair its reliability as overfill protection.
VEGAPULS 68 for level measurement in the cement Silo
The extreme generation of dust during filling and emptying limits the implementation of non-contacting measurement with ultrasonic methods. The VEGAPULS 68 can remedy this problem, because microwaves are completely unaffected by dust generation or a strong filling stream. With a measuring range of up to 230 ft (70 m), the VEGAPULS 68 is the ideal measuring instrument for this application.
Level Measurement with the VEGAFLEX 62
The guided microwave sensor VEGAFLEX 62 works reliably and trouble-free in cement silos up to 130 ft (40 m) high. Because the sensor comes already calibrated to the probe length, adjustment on site is not necessary. Set-up thus involves only electrical connection of the two-wire sensor. Product changes, such as a mixture of iron oxide, have just as little effect on the measuring results as varying product quality does.
Overfill Protection with the VEGAVIB 66
The VEGAVIB 66 vibrating level switch lends itself well as overfill protection for cement silos. It requires no adjustment whatsoever and provides reliable switching with varying product quality in the silo. For the user this means "plug and play". Since the VEGAVIB 66 has practically no moving parts, it is not subject to wear and is maintenance-free throughout its entire life cycle.
Storage of Fillers
The aggregates are temporarily stored in multiple-chamber silos. Large amounts of dust are generated when the chambers are being filled. The geometry of the material heaps can vary depending on the consistency of the aggregates and the properties of the bulk materials can also vary from filling to filling.
Level Measurement with the VEGAFLEX 61
VEGAFLEX 61 is the ideal solution for continuous measurement in aggregate silos up to approximately 33 ft (10 m) high. By virtue of the guided microwave measuring principle (TDR), adjustment with product is not necessary. Since the instrument comes already factory-adjusted, set-up involves only electrical connection. The measuring results are influenced neither by product quality nor dust generation, nor by the shape of the material.
Overfill Protection with the VEGAVIB 62
The VEGAVIB 62 provides additional protection against overfilling of multiple-chamber aggregate silos. The flexible suspension cable avoids mechanical loads that arise through material flow. Set-up does not require filling. Since VEGAVIB 62 has practically no moving parts, it is not subject to wear and tear.
