Preventing Pollution of the Drains
The extraction of raw materials from the sea is not pollution free; production residues and contaminating materials arise within the entire plant. Rain drainage on board platforms and ships can carry considerable quantities of oil, sand and dirt. To prevent these contaminations from disturbing the delicate balance of the oceans, they must be collected in special containers and disposed.
Level Measurement with Ultrasound in the Rainwater Catchment Tank
The contaminating materials washed away together with the rainwater are collected in the open catchment tanks, called the open drain. The exact regulation of the filling level in these containers is carried out with the VEGASON 62 ultrasonic sensor. The non-contact measurement controls the disposal of the sewage and prevents the tanks from overflowing. The measuring system is not affected by the degree of contamination of the sewage and allows simple mounting of the sensor above the catchment tank.
