The emitter transmits a focused microwave signal to the receiver unit on the opposite side. If there is a medium between the transmitter and the receiver, the signal is damped. This change is detected by the electronics in the receiver unit and converted into a switching command. The VEGAMIP 61 can detect a level through a closed, plastic wall; on metal vessels, the sensor can be mounted in a half coupling or in front of a window of plastic, glass, or ceramic. It can be used in vessels and pipelines horizontally or vertically.
The VEGAMIP system offers many uses and benefits. Since microwaves are unaffected by dust and changing product properties, the system can also be used for object monitoring applications such as truck loading or collision protection. The VEGAMIP can monitor at distances up to 100 m.
